David is a partner in Berger McDermott’s Corporate and Commercial Litigation group, where he has represented clients in every state and federal court in Delaware. David’s practice includes areas of corporate, commercial, real property, and employment law. He has counseled clients and litigated cases in a wide range of matters, including corporate and alternative entity disputes, contract disputes, business divorces, breaches of fiduciary duty, business torts, and real estate matters. David also counsels employers and employees on restrictive covenants, trade secrets, EEO compliance, and wage and hour disputes.
David is active in the Delaware community and serves a number of pro bono clients. He helped found the Veterans Advisory Council to provide financial and other assistance to veterans receiving care at the Wilmington VA Medical Center. He also represents a variety of local nonprofits helping Delawareans face challenges such as addiction, homelessness, and developmental differences, represents indigent clients in landlord-tenant disputes, and serves as a guardian ad litem for children in the foster care system.
Prior to joining Berger McDermott, David was an associate at Ballard Spahr LLP. David also served as law clerk to the Honorable Richard R. Cooch, Resident Judge of the Superior Court of Delaware. While in law school, David was a judicial intern for the Honorable Thomas L. Ambro, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and was on the editorial board of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. Before law school, David served in the United States Army and worked as a counselor for dependent children.
